Dominican University Villa Schifanoia Graduate Theses

The Sisters of Sinsinawa operated a graduate school of fine arts in Italy for 37 years on the grounds of the Villa Schifanoia. The Villa, a 31 acre Florentine estate dating from the early sixteenth century, is located in San Domenico, a suburb of Florence and midway between Florence and Fiesole. This collection of graduate theses represents the work of the students of Villa Schifanoia between 1957 and 1985, encompassing subjects from art restoration to Medieval music to Italian architecture. Later Villa Schifanoia theses tend to showcase an individual student’s artwork rather than scholastic research.
